Coconut blossom sugar, also known as coconut sugar, is a type of sweetener made from the sap of the coconut palm tree. The juice is collected from the coconut palm tree’s cut flower buds and then boiled down to create crystallized sugar.
Coconut sugar has a caramel-like flavour with a hint of coconut taste. It is often used as a natural sweetener in baking and cooking and a sugar substitute in coffee and tea. It can be used as a 1:1 replacement for white or brown sugar in most recipes.
Coconut sugar is considered a lower-glycaemic sweetener, meaning it has a lower impact on blood sugar levels than regular white sugar. It is also a good source of minerals and vitamins, including potassium, magnesium, zinc, and iron.
It is important to note that it is not the same as coconut palm sugar and coconut nectar, which are different products made from other parts of the coconut tree.
Store in a dry, cool place, protected from sunlight.
